To request a repeat prescription, please follow the guidelines below and choose the right option for you. Please allow five working days, excluding bank holidays, for your prescription request to be processed. We do not accept repeat prescription requests over the phone.
Use the NHS App
The simplest way to order your repeat medication is by using the NHS App on your smartphone or tablet. The NHS App links directly to your Prescription record at the Surgery. This service requires an account with the NHS.
If you don't have access to the NHS App you can also use your NHS App login to order repeat medication at the NHS website.
Use our online form
If you're struggling to order via the NHS App, you can order your repeat prescription via our online repeat prescription form. No account is required.
Order in person or by post
You can order in person by returning the right-hand half of a previous prescription for the required medications, or by submitting a handwritten request. You may also write out an order for someone else, providing you include the patient’s name and date of birth and requested medication.
You can also post your prescription slip or written request to us at the Surgery.
Order at your pharmacy
Some pharmacies can also order your medication on your behalf. This saves you time and unnecessary visits to our Surgery. Please contact the pharmacy of your choice for more information if you wish to use this service.
Our Dispensary
Serving a rural area, we are able to offer a prescription dispensing services to all our patients who live more than one mile from a chemist (in a direct line).
The system used by the dispensary has recently been updated which means patients will no longer receive a text message when prescriptions are ready for collection. If we have an email address recorded you will receive an email to let you know your prescription is ready.
To update or check the email we have on your record please contact us.
Dispensary Opening Times
- Monday to Friday: 8.00am to 6.30pm
Please Remember
- Whilst we dispense acute medication immediately, any additional repeat medication will still take 5 working days to process.
- You may have to come in and see the doctor before certain medication is issued, so make sure you order your medication in good time.
- Online requests are picked up until 1 pm. (Any request made after this time will be actioned the following working day). Please leave FIVE WORKING days between ordering repeat medication and its collection.
- Any medication order placed after 1.00pm will be counted as being ordered on the next working day (Monday - Friday) and will be processed accordingly. Medication ordered via Patient Access after 1.00 pm on Friday will be processed on Monday morning and will therefore be ready for collection on Thursday.
- We will only issue 1 month's medication at a time. If you have a very special, one off, reason for asking for more than a month's supply please provide details as this will have to be approved by your GP.
- Repeat prescriptions for HRT or the contraceptive pill will be provided by the nurse after health checks are made. If you run out before you can get an appointment you can order a 1 month emergency supply.
Electronic Prescription Service
Billingshurst Surgery is set up for the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS). We encourage patients to sign up for and use this service as it will allow us to send your prescribed medications to your nominated pharmacy electronically, meaning you don't have to come to the surgery to pick up your prescription form.
