A&E and 999 calls
Calls to the ambulance service are for serious accident, critical and life threatening emergencies only, such as loss of consciousness, severe chest pain and/or loss of blood.
The A&E departments at Worthing Hospital, the Princess Royal Hospital at Haywards Heath; and St Richard's Hospital, Chichester, are open 24 hours a day.
Asthma & COPD Clinics
Held twice weekly by appointment. Please call the surgery for more information or to book an appointment.

Blood Clinic
Monday to Friday AM by appointment. This is supervised by our nurses for taking blood and other specimens for laboratory testing.
Please be aware that ALL routine annual blood tests (including diabetic, coronary heart disease, hypertension) are changing from fasting to non-fasting. This is in line with recent NICE guidelines that support a non-fasting cholesterol blood test.
Please note you are only able to book in for a blood test if the form has already been raised by a GP or if you have been given a form by a consultant.
Cardiovascular Clinic
Held weekly by invitation & appointment. All cardiovascular patients aged over 40 years can have a check up with the clinic without invitation. Please contact the surgery to book an appointment.
Cervical Smears
With the practice nurse by appointment. We recommend 3 yearly checks for women up to 50 and 5 yearly checks for women between 50 and 65. Breast examination technique, blood pressure check and urine testing are available.
Childhood Immunisation Clinic
Usually held weekly via our practice nurses.
Your child will be invited when injections are due. It is important that children receive all these immunisations. Please consult the doctor if you have any worries.
The Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation publish a 'Green Book' of the recommended immunisation schedule which is updated when advice changes. Further helpful advice on immunisations can be found on the NHS website.
Chlamydia Testing

Counselling
If you feel you would benefit from the services of a Counsellor you can be referred through consultation with a GP. Please book an appointment with your doctor.

Diabetic Clinic
Held weekly by appointment. Please contact the surgery for more information and to book an appointment.
Diabetic Support
For information about Type 2 diabetes and help managing it provided by DESMOND (Diabetes Education And Self Management For Ongoing And Newly Diagnosed) visit the DESMOND website.
Dentists
Need a dentist? Ring the local dental helpline 0300 1000 899 for details of dentists offering NHS dental services. If you have a dental emergency, contact your dentist. If you don't have a dentist, call the dental helpline.
For urgent dental treatment please contact your own Dentist in the first instance, or phone the Dental helpline on 0300 1000 899. You can also telephone one of the following services which are open 5:30pm to 10:00pm Monday to Friday, and 8:30am to 1:00pm Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. All are by appointment only.

Electronic NHS Care Records Service
The NHS keeps an electronic patient records through the Care Records Service (CRS). The aim is to link all parts of the NHS in England, giving Healthcare Professionals access to countrywide electronic patient information.

Emergency Contraception
Emergency contraception is available from the surgery or by visiting a pharmacy or from the Sexual health West Sussex website.
If you wish to get Emergency contraception from the surgery please request an urgent GP appointment.
Expert Patient Programme (EPP)
Living with a long term condition can often be a frustrating time not only for the person with the long term condition but also their family. The Expert Patient Programme helps people gain a greater sense of independence and control over their condition.
This free self-management course teaches you how to self-manage your own condition more effectively. You will have the opportunity to learn new skills to help improve your own quality of life.

Family Planning
We offer a comprehensive contraceptive and family planning service.
- If you wish to start or discuss contraception please book a telephone consultation with a GP.
- If you are on regular contraceptive pills, Depo-Provera or Sayana press and wish to get a repeat prescription please book in for a telephone consultation with one of our practice nurses.
- If you wish to have a coil or implant fitted or changed please phone the surgery and we would be happy to book appointments for you.
- The family planning clinic is held weekly.

Maternity Medical Services
Provided by all doctors during normal surgery hours. For appointments with a midwife, please collect a pregnancy pack from the surgery which will include midwife contact details.
Minor injury units and Urgent Treatment Centres
Before going to A&E consider if you would get the right treatment at a minor injury unit (MIU) or the urgent treatment centre.
- Crawley Hospital Urgent Treatment Centre: Open 07:30 - 22:00 seven days/week (including Christmas and New Year). Telephone 01293 600300 ext 4141.
- Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital MIU: Open 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Closed weekends and bank holidays. Telephone 01243 623564.
- Horsham Hospital MIU**: Open 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Closed weekends and bank holidays. Telephone 01293 600300 ext 7202.
- Park Surgery, Littlehampton MIU: Open 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. Closed weekends and bank holidays. Telephone 01903 717154.
** Please note that Horsham is for minor injuries, not illness. If you have not had an accident causing an injury, please do not attend Horsham Hospital MIU **
Patient Transport Services for Sussex (non-emergency)
Do you need help in getting to a hospital appointment? For non-emergency patient transport call 0300-111-2131 (local rate call). You may be eligible for a free or subsidised service if you have a medical need.
For residents in Billingshurst surgery's catchment area we also have Billingshurst Community Transport (BCT). This is an excellent volunteer run local service that offers economic transport to all medical appointments whether Hospital, Surgeries or Specialist centres including dentists.

Pneumonia Immunisation
Everyone over 65 should be immunised to help protect against pneumococcal infection which can cause diseases such as pneumonia, septicaemia and meningitis. We provide these vaccinations. See more information on pneumonia vaccination
Seasonal Flu Immunisation
Each year we carry out the seasonal influenza vaccination programme. This normally runs from September - February each year. This starts of being run as large scale clinics, and then as the vaccination programme winds down in January/February bookable appointments.

Sexual Health
Aged 13 or over? You can now order a free sexual health test kit online via the link above for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, HIV and Syphilis. The tests are easy to do and confidential.

Social Prescribing
The Social Prescribing service offers help with long term health conditions, isolation, loneliness, social needs impacting wellbeing, addiction, housing & employment support, debt advice & financial support and anyone wishing to make lifestyle changes.
If you wish to be referred to this service please contact the surgery.
Social Prescribing 8-17 year olds
The surgery has two dedicated social prescribers to help patients aged 8 - 17 years with concerns such as Anger, Anxiety, Sleep issues, Stress.
You are able to self refer to this service by completing the online questionnaire and the team will be in touch.
Please note this service is not suitable if you are experiencing long term mental health concerns which you are already receiving care for or if you have thoughts of suicide / self harm..
West Sussex Talking Therapy
West Sussex Talking Therapy (previously known as Time to Talk) is an NHS service offering free, confidential talking therapy to adults registered with a GP in West Sussex.
If you’re feeling low, anxious or worried, talking therapies can really help you. West Sussex Talking Therapy can also help people with depression, phobias, social anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorders, health anxiety, low self-esteem or low confidence, relationship difficulties and bereavements. Talking therapies are available in person, on the phone and via video call.
How can I access the service?
You can self-refer to West Sussex Talking Therapy – you don’t need to speak to your GP first. If you would rather speak to your GP first, they can refer you with your permission. You can self-refer by phone, or you can complete an online self-referral form. Visit the West Sussex Talking Therapy website to find out more about how to contact them. Once you’ve self-referred or your GP has referred you, one of the West Sussex Talking Therapy team will be in touch with you for an initial assessment.

Travel Vaccinations

Please note that that not all travel vaccinations are free of charge. If you are advised by a private travel clinic that you require a Hepatitis A, Tetanus or Typhoid booster, these are available on the NHS - if you require one of these please book a consultation with one of our nurses.
Our Nurses are able to offer a travel risk assessment however please be advised you may be informed you require vaccinations that are not available on the NHS and these will need to be done via a private travel clinic. West Sussex Breast Screening Service
West Sussex Breast Screening provides breast screening every three years for all women in the county aged 50 and over.
In line with national recommendations, this service is currently rolling out to include women up to the age of 70. Women over the age of 70 are encouraged to continue to invite themselves for screening every three years. Most of these screening mammograms are performed in mobile units, which travel around the county, staffed by our specially trained radiographers.
Women aged 71 and over can refer themselves for screening by phoning the Breast Screening Office on 01903 239757.
